Your passive income
Reinvest everything and you reach $500 a month in year 16. After 20 years it pays $681 a month.
Monthly income over 20 years
What the portfolio pays each month. The dashed line is your goal.
If you take the income as cash instead
How it's calculated
Each month the portfolio pays out a twelfth of its yearly yield. If you reinvest, that payout buys more of the same thing, so next month's payout is a little bigger. That is the snowball: the income grows even if you never add another cent.
Income growth is the rate at which the payout itself rises, the way many companies raise their dividend each year. It compounds on top of reinvesting. There is no separate price-growth input, because for income investing the two overlap and counting both would flatter the result.
Nothing here is a forecast. Yields change, dividends get cut, and taxes take a share of every payout. Use it to see the shape of the curve, not to plan to the dollar.
